What is this blog about?
To make it simple: teaching theology and the Bible, church ministry, and anything else that comes to my mind. In the archives you’ll find posts on discipleship, sanctification, and worship. I consider these three massive interests of mine because they are all directly applicable to me.

About the title: God’s grace is relentless (or unrelenting) in pursuit of redeeming mankind.

Bio: My name is Robbie and am a redeemed sinner so please be patient with me.  I am married to my college sweetheart, Jennifer, a young lady who I enjoy flirting with.  My hometown is located in Pittsburgh’s eastern suburbs.  In terms of vocation I am the high school Bible teacher at Trinity Christian School.  Of August 2009 I entered my second year as a teacher.  It is a blast as my passions are all combined in one location (teaching, Christianity, and people).  My wife and I are members at New Covenant PCA where we serve as the directors of children’s outreach.

I like TV (Stargate Universe, House, Fringe, Glee, Flash Forward, the Office, Community), play Halo, be in the outdoors, be with people, do crazy things, and anything and everything Jen. If I am not doing any of the above I’m either sleeping, thinking about a subject, or reading. (I am a nerd.)

Education:

Grove City College, Honors in Christian Thought with a Christian Ministry Concentration, May 2008

the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary, M. Div. Candidate, anticipated graduation 2013-2014 as I continue teaching at Trinity Christian.

Theological Influences: Jesus Christ, the Apostle Paul, Martin Luther, John Calvin, Tim Keller, Iain Duguid, CJ Mahaney, and John Piper to name a few.

And just like the Fresh Prince, I am an extrovert.

I’ve enjoyed clicking around your site Robbie. I have done the opposite with my blogging interests: I’ve gone from my previous blog with various topics on preaching, theology, family, culture, life, etc to starting my new blog that focuses on Christ-centered quotes from within church history. Thanks for providing insightful posts and a wealth of info in your sidebar. Look forward to clicking here again real soon.

Robbie. I was just doing a search on a particular topic on the Puritan Board, and noticed a picture that is very familiar to me. I guess it’s your profile pic for that forum, but it was a picture of Superman’s body with Calvin’s head on it. My question for you is: did you originally create this image? If so, I must thank you for it. Once upon a time, I happened upon that picture, copied and saved it, then when I decided to design a look for the imaginary comic-book hero which is the namesake for my blog, “The Misadventures of Captain Headknowledge,” (http://capthk.wordpress.com), I decided that image was the most appropriate, so I started using it. I googled the image, trying to relocate its source, but failed. Recently, feeling guilty for using another’s image so prominently without permission, I asked an artist friend to draw a new version of the picture. It has now replaced the old one, which I just encountered again at the Puritan Board.

Let me know if you created it. And, if so, thanks! But if not, let me know if you know the source.

    John,
thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment.

I did not create that image. Discovered it a while back on the good ol’ world wide web. I believe it was on a church’s website with regard to a teaching series on Calvinism. I find sermon art very humorous.

I saw your friend’s rendition. Very nice and please pass on the appreciation of it.

Good to find your website – great Iain Duguid resources – who I’m just discovering through his books – what an amazing communicator.

In his ‘Gospel according to the Old Testament’ books – he says that the books were based on sermon series that he did. Do you have any information as to how these might be found?

The First Reformed PCA site really needs to be re-arranged so that people can search the archives – i can’t find the Duiguid sermons via their front page – but thankfully can via your website :)

    Chris,
Welcome. Glad I could be of service. Where are you from?

The sermons Iain refers to were preached at Grace Fallbrook our in California. (The congregation he planted 12 years back.) Their website is here – http://www.gracefallbrook.org/sermons_online.aspx – much more helpful than First Reformed. First’s website has not changed for 4 years… they are due for a major rehaul.

Duguid planted a congregation in Grove City, PA, check out the sermons page there- he is working through Acts.

Hi Robbie – Thanks for the links. I’m from the UK – actually not too far away from Oxford, where I believe Iain pastored a church a while back.

Hello!! Thanks for reading. I don’t know how much discussion you need of Biblical womanhood or cooking, but I will try to include something for the gents:). We are doing pretty well out here, but I found out a month ago I have 2 fractures in my back caused by a birth defect and I am meeting with the surgeon very soon to see what he has to say because I have already exhausted the non-surgical options without success. That is part of the reason I began blogging… I have a lot of time on my hands to read, write, and think, and I wanted a way to share with others. I confess I have been silently reading your blog occasionally for quite awhile now after having found it via facebook, and I much appreciate your content. Keep it up! How are you guys doing? Tell Jen we say hi!

Incidentally – do you know anything about Rev. Duguid’s church plant in Oxford England? I’ve been trying to find information about it and can’t find any trace of a Redemeed Presbyterian Church in Oxford!

    Chris,
It was Redeemer Presbyterian. Iain wrote his dissertation there. It was a “failed” church plant, therefore the organized church is no longer there. FYI, First Reformed is getting a new pastor, so hopefully there will be some website changes.

There is not any #TLF09 up north and there were many folks from all over the country in attendance. I met a fella by the name of Chris O’Brien (O’Brian) who is in Pittsburgh, maybe at a 3rd Redeemer or something like that.

All the audios from the conference can be found at, http://tr.im/tlf09audio or http://tr.im/tlf09audios

    Enjoy.

I wandered over here from one of those automatically generated WordPress links, and have thoroughly enjoyed browsing around. Keep up the good work!
